Hello Ignacio
I agree with Lynn that this dialogue sounds American to me except for
the spelling of colour.
I would guess that Helen and John work in a university office and have
access to the same copy machine as does the professor of their mutual
class.
What would I do? First of all I will tell you that I have the
philosophy that "It is never wrong to do right." That being said, I
would probably give the answer sheet to the professor, assuring him
that I did not look at it.
But I have to confess to something that, like Marti, I did years ago.
I had access to a test (with answers) that was also given in a class I
was taking. Yes, I studied it, and as a result made a nearly perfect
score. But at the same time, the professor was lazy because he should
have made a different test.
At the grocery store, I have come home with rotten fruit (didn't look
rotten, but was inside) many times, and I did not have time to return
it to the store. A couple of times I was given a sack of someone
else's groceries (and there was really no way to fix the problem). I
decided to keep the food since I felt I was owed that and much more by
the store.
Although many of us "intend" to be honest, there are times when we
succumb to the decision to take what "we think is coming to us." At
least I have not had to face this problem recently...
This is an interesting point, Ignacio : )
