Thank you so much for your information concerning the Spanish names.
I am going to put all of this to memory.
Telka, as regards names in the US and UK, I can only speak about the
US.
I have lived in two completely different parts of the US. Having
been born on the East Coast, as a female, I was given a first name, a
middle name, and a last name. My middle name is actually a last
name. My mother said that the name is of relatives from the state of
Delaware, but I never met any of them. I know that other people from
the NE give a last name as a middle name.
But in the South, and especially Texas, where I now live, it is
different. People are less likely to have a last name (apellido) for
a middle name. Instead, they will have two first names, one after
the other, and then a last name.
It has been a custom for men to sometimes be given the same name as
the father. In this case, the name would be something like,
John Edward Jones, Jr.
or
John Edward Jones II
John Edward Jones III
The father could be referred to as
John Edward Jones, Sr.
Maybe someone else can add to this explanation. I don't know too
much about history because both of my parents died by the time I was
15.
