Ramón,
I don't know what language I prefer. I'm a SNS but I can also speak english and
italian! So you can write in any of those languages cuz I'll understand :P
canadiense y me dice que la frase "I do hope this helps Laura" is ok.
Saludos
Andy

Thanks a bunch for your words. I do hope this helps Laura since
it is really a difficult subject. It is so difficult that Spanish is
slowly letting Subjunctive die, not so fast as English, but steadily.
You see in my previous sentence I wrote "I do hope this helps Laura"
but, is it right? Grammatically this is Subjunctive "Espero que esto
ayude a Laura" so the verb should not be written with the 3rd. person
singular "s" of Present Indicative Mood, but I have seen it like this
more than the other way around. Maybe we can discuss here this issue.
Language is a living thing and we must respect the way people speak
and write. As you know, in Spanish there is La Real Academia that
works trying in vain to keep language unchanging but they do slow
changes. English follows the whims of the speakers, even if some
purists do protest.
In the end, people win and keep their ways. South America is one of
the places where the language changes quicker.
Thanks again.
Ramón.
