Dear MLAS SC and MLAS List Members I wish you all a Happy New Year 2008! On behalf of the MLAS Standing Committee I have the pleasure to invite representatives from all interested national library associations to participate as observers at the MLAS SC Mid-Year Meeting in Granada Spain on the 14th to 16th of February 2008 I will send you the agenda of the meeting by the end of January 2008. Here is some preliminary information of the
meeting, its programme and of the flight connections. I would like to thank once more Pedro Hipola, the MLAS Standing Committee Member from Granada and from FESABID, the Spanish umbrella organisation to host us during the Mid- Year Meeting. Also Maria Cotera, Co-Convener of Women, Information and Libraries Discussion Group (WILDG) belonging under wings of MLAS, is assisting Pedro Hipola in planning the social programme and other practicalities. Pedro Hipola has also kindly sent some information on the flight connections to Granada. Please read below. As soon as you know you will take part in the MLAS Mid-Year Meeting, please inform me (sinikka.sipila@...) so we know how many are coming and when and how many will stay till Sunday. The visit to the most important cultural monument in Granada, Alhambra, is arranged on Saturday afternoon. Please note that the flight connections
to Granada may take extra time in travelling. If there are no good flight connections to you directly to Granada, it is possiblel to take a express bus from Malaga to Granada, it takes less than two hours to ride. See http://www2.alsa.es/portal/index.asp?lang=en, two-way ticket less than 20 euros. Please inform also if you have a food allergy or special diet. The information is neede for the dinners etc. I am looking forward to receive your registrations as soon as possible. 1) PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME 14.-16.2.2008 GRANADA, SPAIN WEDNESDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2008 Some participants arrive already a day before if they come from long distances so they need hotel already then. THURSDAY 14 FEBRUARY 2008 Arrival in the morning of the rest of the participants The meeting at 13.00 - 17.30 hours Social programme Dinner in the evening hosted by the local association or the
hosting city etc. FRIDAY 15 FEBRUARY 2008 The meeting at 9.00 - 16.30 Social programme Dinner in the evening (can be paid by the participants) SATURDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2008 The meeting at 9.00 - 13.00 (14.30). Usually the meeting has ended after lunch c. at 13.00 but in Zagreb we met Claudia Lux, then President-Elect at 13.00-14.30. Social programme Some participants stay till Sunday due to flight connections or when wanting to see more of the hosting city.
