The Department of Biodiversity Informatics at the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem, Freie Universität Berlin has an immediate opening for a

Scientific Coordinator
German federal salary level BAT IIa/Ib i.d.F.d.Anw.-TV FUB (Scientist/Senior Scientist)

Main tasks & responsibilities: Scientific coordination of the workpackage "Internet Platform for Cybertaxonomy " which aims at harmonising and integrating the taxonomical biodiversity informatics activities at the involved 19 institutions (mainly large natural history museums). The applicant is to cooperate with the IT project group, the taxonomic workpackages, the workpackage leader and the project administration, and will be responsible for initiating and organising the collaboration and documenting the results, including reporting, participation in publications and funding proposals.

Prerequisites: The candidate must have a university degree in Biology and excellent English communication skills. Desirable qualifications include a PhD degree, experience in managing and coordinating transnational research projects, professional background in systematic biology, knowledge of other European languages and familiarity with information technology. The position requires personal responsibility, secure negotiation skills, and willingness to work in and adapt to a complex subject area.
