Hello Everyone,
We are starting a sea turtle project in Puerto Lopez, Ecuador this
february and really need some volunteers to help. The project is being
carried out by Equilibrio Azul which is a non-profit organisation working
to conserve and sustainably manage our oceans. To see more of what they are
about you can check out their website at http://www.equilibrioazul.org/.
Basically the project is walking the beaches throughout the night looking
for nesting females and then tagging them and later counting and measuring
their eggs. The idea of the project is to find out more about the status of the
of the population in the area so proper measures can be taken to help
conserve them.
Housing and food is provided for $400 per month. The project will
run from February to April 2008 but volunteers should be in Quito for a
week of training at the end of January. If you are interested and want to
help please email me back as soon as possible so we can make the arrangements
and I can answer any questions you might have.
Thanks,
Somer Wilkinson
