Location: Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina
Hunting Island is a 4 mile long barrier island located in northern Beaufort
County, South Carolina.
Background Information:
Duties: Three mornings per week, the Program Specialist will assist with the
Hunting Island Loggerhead Sea Turtle Project. This will include patrolling
the beach, locating, excavating and relocating nests and supervising
volunteers. This position is also responsible for assisting the park's
interpretive staff by providing educational programs for park visitors.
Program topics will include: salt marsh ecology, beach walks, kayaking,
reptiles, crabbing, seining and programs designed specifically for children
ages 7-13. Other duties will include staffing the Nature Center, caring for
snakes, turtles and salt water aquariums.
Work schedule will include weekends.
