POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN BIOGEOCHEMESTRY AND MICROBIAL ECOLOGY:
The Regional Program for Physical Oceanography and Climate -PROFC (www.profc.udec.cl)- of the
University of Concepcion in Chile offers two postdoctoral positions: one in marine biogeochemistry and the other one in marine microbial ecology. The positions will concentrate on nitrogen cycling and on molecular microbial ecology in the oxygen minimum zone of the eastern South Pacific. Candidates should have a Ph. D. degree and will be expected to work also
within the new Center for Oceanographic Research - COPAS (www.copas.cl). The positions are
supported by the Fundación Andes (Chile) and are for a one-year term, renewable for one

Following the evaluation of the thematic proposals submitted at an  earlier stage, the Catalan Institue for Research and Advanced Studies,  ICREA, offers now a senior researcher position on Marine Geosciences,  amongst other positions in various fields. The appointed researcher
will normally be assigned to work in the Marine Geosciences Research  Group at the University of Barcelona after a negotiation process  between ICREA, the appointed researcher and the head of the stablished  host research group. The contract offered is "indefinido", which means
that it does not have an end date and can last indefinitely.  Individual candidates must send electronically their application  through the ICREA webpage

All the information to fill in for the application is in that webpage.  Salaries are negotiated at a later stage on an individual basis. They  are very competitive according the standard of life in Spain, with

universities in Europe offers employments for pre-doc and post-doc researchers interested to

Resumen: La escuela de la ingeniería ambiental es un equipo interdisciplinario de científicos y de ingenieros con una misión para promover la protección del medio ambiente sostenible innovadora. Tenemos una oportunidad emocionante en la investigación graduada para un estudiante excepcional. Poco se sabe del papel de virus en procesos acuáticos del ecosistema. Este proyecto apunta determinar el papel ecológico de virus en el control de floraciones del cyanobacteria tóxico (algas azulverdes) en fuentes del agua potable. El proyecto de PhD se basa en Brisbane. Usted trabajará con dr Peter Pollard para desarrollar y para aplicar los métodos que serán aplicados en última instancia al lago Baroon, en costa de la sol, para cuantificar virus y cyanobacteria. Los resultados de la investigación contribuirán perceptiblemente a una base científica sana para la gerencia de floraciones cyanobacterial tóxicas en estos ambientes acuáticos. Beca Graduada De la Investigación: El financiamiento es de una concesión del acoplamiento del ARCO con la universidad y el tablero del abastecimiento de agua de Caloundra-Maroochy - $23.294 p.a de Griffith. Sediment Denitrification in the Great Barrier Reef Lagoon

Oferta de trabajo de investigación sobre "Gran Barrera de Arrecife" de Australia 
This study will investigate the importance of sediment denitrification in the nitrogen budget
of the inshore wet tropics section of the Great Barrier Reef Lagoon. The successful applicant
will work on river delta and/or inshore reef sediments as part of an internationally renown
research team, and in collaboration with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. A 1st or
2(A) class Honours in sediment biogeochemistry or related area such as benthic
ecology/geochemistry is required and proficient field and laboratory skills would be
advantageous. This is an exciting opportunity to join the rapidly growing field of coastal
biogeochemistry.
