Responsabilidades: Los monitores de campo deberán patrullar 5 km de playa junto con personal de MINAE básicamente durante la noche para registrar la actividad de anidación de tortugas marinas y asistir en los esfuerzos de reducir el saqueo de estos. Los nidos serán dejados "in situ", sin embargo algunos nidos serán relocalizados si se considera que son particularmente vulnerables a la erosión de la playa o al saqueo. Los monitores también necesitarán localizar nidos eclosionando (o recientemente eclosionados) para exacavarlos y determinar los porcentajes de éxito de eclosión.
Requisitos: Se dará preferencia a los postulantes con las siguientes calificaciones:
Biólogo o estudiante de Biología (o carreras afines) en los últimos años de estudio.
Tener fluidez tanto en español
Tener experiencia en el trabajo con tortugas marinas.
Estar en buenas condiciones físicas, adaptarse rápidamente y gustar

2 Sea Turtle Field Monitors Needed IMMEDIATELY
Period: As soon as possible until the end of February, 2005.

Background Information: The Camaronal National Wildlife Refuge was established in 2004. Three MINAE (Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment) staff members have been staying at the recently constructed post and have been patrolling the beach on a nightly basis in order to reduce poaching and to do a census of nesting sea turtles. Data recorded so far (up until the end of October) has indicated that Camaronal might be the largest olive ridley solitary nesting beach in all of

Duties: Field Monitors will be required to patrol the 5km beach with MINAE personal on a nightly basis to record sea turtle nesting activity and assist in efforts to reduce poaching. Nests will be left "in situ", however some nest will be relocated when they are considered particularly vulnerable to beach erosion or poaching. Monitors will also need to locate hatching (or recently hatched) nests in order to do excavations and determine hatching success rates.
Requirements: Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:
Biologist or upper level biology (or related field) student.
Fluency in both Spanish and English.
Previous experience working with sea turtles.
In good physical condition, adaptable and work well in a group.
