Curso Teórico con una salida al campo y evaluación post-curso.

El curso consiste en lectura y discusión de artículos sobre primatología en ingles, por lo cual es necesario para asistir un buen manejo del idioma.

El sitio donde se ralizará el curso será la Estación Biológica Corrientes ubicada a 20km de la ciudad de Corrientes. El curso incluye alojamiento en las casas de la Estación y pensión completa. Además durante el curso se realizará una salida al campo. El curso abordará una serie de temas que serán divididos en grupos para ordenar las discusiones. Cada grupo compuesto por hasta 3 personas que deberán focalizarse en uno de los temas. No obstante todos los participantes del curso deberán leer todos los artículos provistos. Se evaluará la participación en clase durante las exposiciones y se realizará un proyecto final como evaluación. Los grupos de artículos irán acompañados por guías de lectura. Toda la bibliografía necesaria será enviada por mail y en caso de necesitar más artículos pueden pedírnoslos también por mail.

Estas lecturas no serán discutidas con profundidad. Pero deben ser leídas cuidadosamente, ya que les darán los conocimientos básicos y generales sobre primates para empezar con el resto de los artículos y capítulos de libros. Los capítulos de Fleagle (1999) dan un idea básica de la anatomía, clasificación y características generales de los primates. Martín y Bateson (1993) es una introducción inicial a los métodos de muestreo de comportamiento, Gerloff et al (1999) y Pope (2000) dan una muestra de cómo se pueden utilizar herramientas combinadas de genéticamolecular y ecología de comportamiento para contestar mas completamente las mismaspreguntas, Bertcovich y Ziegler (2002) muestran el estado de la sociendocrinología en el campo de la primatologia, y finalmente Fleagle (2000) nos da una idea muy resumida de otro enfoque de la primatologia de hoy.
