George Lindsey Film Festival officials at theUniversity of North Alabama announce that entries are being accepted for the 6th annual festival, which will be April 24-25, 2003.
Dr. Garry Warren, chair of the festival, said entries are being sought from professionals, faculty, college students, high school students and kindergarten through 8th grade students.
Production of the entries must have been completed in 2001 and 2002.
The categories are: Professional - full length narrative (under two hours); short narrative (under 30 minutes); short documentary (under one hour); and music video (3-5 minutes); Faculty - any of above categories (under two hours). These will be jury reviewed; Student - full length narrative (under two hours); short narrative (under 30 minutes); short documentary (under one hour); and music video (3-5 minutes); Lion Cub (K-8)
- short narrative (under 30 minutes); short documentary (under 30 minutes); and music video (3-5 minutes).
More than one entry is allowed, however, each must be submitted separately.
The entry deadline is January 31, 2003.
The entry fee for each professional submission is $20. The faculty submission fee is $20. High school and college student submission fees are $10 each. A $5 entry fee is required for each Lion Cub submission.
Each entry must include a VHS cassette of the project, a completed entry form (with name, address, telephone numbers of contact person), a 50-word synopsis of the project, a 45-second clip to be shown on awards
night and the entry fee (check or money order made payable to UNA Film Festival Competition). Entries should be mailed or shipped to:

We at Transparency International are proud to announce the 2nd International Anti-Corruption Film Festival, "Film for Transparency: Exposing Corruption". This festival is scheduled to run as part of the 11th International Anti-Corruption Conference in May, 2003 in Seoul, South
Korea.
In addition to feature-length films, this film festival will showcase a number of documentary and student films from around the world on the subjects of transparency, governance, whistle-blowing, and corruption.
Film is an important medium for stimulating debate and action, and Transparency International would like to invite filmmakers from around the world to contribute to the fight for transparency in governance and against corruption. By offering them a forum for their work, we hope to encourage filmmakers to address the various themes that surround this issue, including bribery, abuse of public trust, access to information, and transparency in governance. We also hope to encourage filmmakers who are just starting their careers to add their voices to the ranks of those who work against corruption.
Attached you will find our Call for Submissions for the Film Festival; we would like to ask for your assistance in helping us to spread the word about our festival. Please, if you know of any filmmakers who are addressing these themes in their work, encourage them to contact us and

El certamen presidido por el importante realizador cubano Humberto Solas, considerado uno de los autores antologicos de Iberoam rica, otorgara premios que contribuiran a que los realizadores galardonados puedan iniciar o dar continuidad a su carrera cinematografica.
En el concurso de guiones in ditos se concederan dos significativos premios para un futuro filme que no excedera los 250000 USD.
La empresa suiza Swiss Effects cedera un premio de ampliado de v deo digital a 35 mm para la post-produccion de un largometraje al autor del guion ganador. A su vez los Laboratorios ECLAIR le concederan 10 copias al negativo del filme resultante.
La entrega del Premio Cesare Zavattini al Mejor Cortometraje sera una contribucion por valor de 3000 USD que consistira en un aporte para el arrendamiento de tecnolog a audiovisual durante la filmacion o la post-produccion de la proxima obra del realizador premiado.
La recepcion de guiones de largometraje, largometrajes y cortometrajes estara abierta hasta el 17 de enero de 2003.

- World Wide Solo: Eder Santos

World Wide highlights Brazilian artist Eder Santos by presenting a wide selection of his work. He will also produce two new works, commissioned by the festival. Santos lives in Belo Horizonte, where he is currently working on The Encyclopedia of Ignorance, an installation about the experience of mortal sins and the intense emotions they can evoke. Structured like an encyclopedia, these emotions and sins are treated as 'entries' or lemmas.
Santos relates traditional values, modern taboos and the emotions of human relationships by juxtaposing them, causing a certain alienation and raising critical questions.
>From February through May, 2003, Santos will be artist-in-residence in Amsterdam. Just like in 'Framed by Curtain', his video on Hong Kong, during his stay he will work on a poetic video essay about cosmopolitan Amsterdam.
In this video Santos will examine his experience of the city from the position of a foreigner and outsider, analyzing the rhythm and daily routines of the city. The artist-in-residence program is supported by the Amsterdam Art Fund. Works by Eder Santos have been presented regularly in the past at the World Wide Video Festival.

category "invited films",in VHS (pal/ntsc)or Betacam
SP (pal) format. The subject and duration are free.
The videos or films invited don't pay inscription.
ART:5.Las escuelas de cine americanas podran
presentar cortometrajes de sus alumnos para ser exhibidos en la seccion "Escuelas de Cine".
ART:6.En la bobina o estuche debe detallarse:Titulo
de la obra,paso o formato,velocidad de proyeccion,tecnica de sonido (una o dos bandas),optico o magnetico y duracion.Asimismo se consignara: nombre y apellido del realizador,edad,domicilio y telefono.NO se aceptar material que omita cualquiera de estos datos.De ser posible se entregara una fotografia del cortometraje en diskete (formato jpg) que se incluira en el catalogo de las jornadas.Inscripcion 10 $.
ART:7.El material debera entregarse personalmente o

todos los viernes de febrero y marzo de 17 a 19 hs.
hasta el viernes 21 de marzo de 2003 a las 20 hs,
fecha en que quedara cerrada la participacion en el
festival.
ART:8.El material presentado sera preseleccionado
por la comision directiva de UNCIPAR e invitados
especiales del quehacer cinematografico en la
cantidad necesaria para cubrir el programa competitivo y la seccion "peliculas invitadas".
ART:9.El material asi preseleccionado sera sometido
a un jurado compuesto por un minimo de 5 (cinco)
personas ligadas al quehacer cinematografico o de
video que sesionara durante los dias 17,18 y 19 de
abril de 2003 en Villa Gesell y elegira un programa
global de 75 (setenta y cinco) minutos como
maximo,incluyendo 4 (cuatro) minutos de intervalo
entre corto y corto elegido.Este programa
representara a la Argentina en el Festival UNICA 2003 a
realizarse en Varsovia,Polonia.El programa Argentino
competira en la muestra central de dicho festival
que incluira films y/o videos sin distincion de
categorias ni orden alguno.El jurado podra elegir cortos para competir en la categoria JUVENIL (realizadores de
hasta 25 anos de edad inclusive).Asimismo el jurado
otorgara un Premio Especial a la que considere la
mejor realizacion de las jornadas, (10 latas de negativo Kodak 16 mm.)El fallo sera inapelable.
ART:10.Toda pelicula y/o video presentado para las
XXV Jornadas de Cine y Video Independiente que no
haya sido retirado dentro de los 90 dias corridos
posteriores al Festival,quedara en poder de UNCIPAR
dando derecho a la institucion a disponer
fisicamente de dicho material en la forma que crea conveniente.
ART:11.La participacion en el concurso implica la
aceptacion del reglamento.Los
cortometrajes
preseleccionados y/o invitados no podran ser
retirados del festival hasta la finalizacion del mismo.UNCIPAR podra copiar el material presentado para integrar su video-filmoteca y la de UNICA si esta lo requiriese.
La institucion podra realizar muestras itinerantes
del material preseleccionado,como asi tambien enviarlo a festivales nacionales e internacionales afines.Todo
aspecto no contemplado en este reglamento sera
resuelto unicamente por UNCIPAR .
