@ Digital ImageMakers International magazine
======================================
http://www.dimagemaker.com/

The third issue of the Digital ImageMakers International magazine is up on the web site, along with the first two issues, for  download as PDFs.

The January issue will be up on the web site on December 20th with a profile of Christopher Barnaby.

New Media people please note. With the January issue we wish to add more material on 'new media' digital art. I'll be adding appropriate news items that  get posted to us but we also need well written pieces of any length (well, up to around 6 pages) covering any aspect of digital art and related issues. We can't pay yet, but it does provide you with a new venue and a lot of people will read
your work. Plus you'll be listed as a contributor. We don't mind how opinionated your pieces are, so long as they are well written and have something relevant to
say that advances the discussion of digital art.

@   The File Room - an Open Forum
======================================
http://www.thefileroom.org

   Aristophanes' plays were banned in the 5^th century B.C. because of obscenity and anti-war themes; Confucius' writings were incinerated around 250 BC after a change of dynasty made them politically incorrect; in 1933, a New York court declared a set of pictures of
Michelangelo's Last Judgment fresco in the Sistine Chapel obscene;  in 1989, Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa against the life of Salman Rushdie for the publication of the novel Satanic Verses; in 1999, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani threatened to cut off
funding to the Brooklyn Museum of Art and evict it from the
building because the Museum refused to remove one work from an art show; in 2001, books from the popular Harry Potter series were banned from schools and burned in churchyards in the United States.

Manifestations of the control of expression are historically and culturally specific. Nevertheless, close investigation reveals recurring themes and issues.

                       The File Room - an Open Forum

     The File Room, a web-based interactive archive of censorship cases, is open to submissions by organizations and individuals locally, nationally, and internationally. The project was initiated by artist Antoni Muntadas and originally produced by the Randolph
     Street Gallery in Chicago in 1994. It then went on the Internet as an open submissions archive. In 2002, the National Coalition Against Censorship[2]* re-programmed and updated the archive and is currently maintaining it. The File Room already contains information on hundreds of incidents dating from the 5^th century
     BC to the present. More cases from around the world are added every day.

                  Our Goals: Documentation and Resistance

     The File Room locates acts of censorship in relation to social settings, political movements, religious beliefs, and economic conditions. The wider understanding of censorship adopted by The File Room allows it to record instances of censorship through market mechanisms, the censorship of private galleries or that of schools and colleges, institutional self-censorship, as well a suppression of work by limiting its distribution or refusing it publicity.

     The File Room is not only a database or a tool for facilitating critical discourse on the subject of censorship; it is also a tool of resistance, i.e. a tactical medium. It makes public those actions of governmental and private institutions (as well as individuals), which are usually intended to remain out of sight. To resist the suppression of symbolic speech, we have to acknowledge how pervasive and interconnected censorship incidents are by recording the many cases of deletion, exclusion, or suppression of speech.

    To submit a case or search the archive, go to www.thefileroom.org

@ Online Museum of Early Video Editing Equipment and Techniques
======================================
http://www.sssm.com/editing/museum/

We've set this corner of the Internet aside as a Museum of Early Video Editing Equipment and Techniques. We hope to serve three goals with our
museum. Our first goal is to save a bit of the history before it all goes into a land fill. Our second goal; For those that have "been there, done that", to give you a chance to revisit that time and equipment. Our final
goal; For those that have entered video editing more recently, to let them see how the equipment and techniques they use today were developed.

As part of its ongoing commitment to exploring new ways of promoting digital opportunity for all people, the Benton Foundation's Digital Divide Network (www.digitaldividenetwork.org) would like to invite you to join the DIGITALDIVIDE discussion group. DIGITALDIVIDE is a moderated discussion in which citizens can discuss the wide range of issues related to bridging the digital divide. The listserv, which currently includes over 3300 members from over 80 countries, cuts across disciplinary boundaries: community

The listserv tackles the digital divide from a variety of angles that include (but are not limited to) the following subjects:

-    content creation for underserved populations and communities;
-    combating illiteracy in its many forms;
-    online diversity;
-    economic development and workforce issues;
-    public policy issues;
-    community building;
-    technology accessibility and the disabled;
-    the Internet and cultural diversity;
-    digital divide news and events;
-    education and training;
-    best practices from local, national and international digital divide
efforts;
-    obstacles to bridging the digital divide;

@ lista cine peruano Cinemaperu
======================================
http://es.groups.yahoo.com/group/cinemaperu/promote
