Description: Grassroots International (GRI) is an independent human rights and development agency. GRI seeks a Communications Coordinator who can elevate the communications skills of our entire organization. Effective communication of our activities to a broad public is a precondition to success in our social justice mission.

The Communications Coordinator will provide clarity and coherence to GRI's message and disseminate that message to key audiences. With appropriate staff and consultant support, s/he will use media outreach as well as our print and electronic publications to effectively communicate to these audiences.

The ideal candidate has a broad knowledge of traditional and new communications methods, a proven record in media relations, and experience producing publications.

Main Responsibilities:

* Edit print publications, coordinate the work of writers, designers and printers, oversee production process
* Lead press outreach, working with specialized consultants on press campaigns, as required
* Manage web site and electronic newsletters. Contract and supervise web design consultants, as necessary
* Edit web site and electronic publications content, writing copy when necessary
* Manage electronic mail lists and list-servs in coordination with relevant staff
* Lead public relations related to agency events in close coordination with Development Team
* Monitor communications budget

Compensation: This is a three-fifths time position, with flexible hours. The salary will be pro-rated from a full-time salary in the mid-30s, depending on experience. Excellent benefits package includes: full health, dental and retirement benefits as well as paid vacation.
