O MUSEU VICTOR MEIRELLES, vinculado ao Ministerio da
Cultura/Instituto do Patrimonio Historico e Artistico Nacional/11oSR,
sediado na cidade de Florianopolis - SC, publica Edital para selecao
de propostas de cursos e oficinas teoricas e/ou praticas com carater
introdutorio nas areas de museologia, musica, artes visuais, cenicas
e outras diferentes linguagens artisticas e ainda
conservacao/restauracao, patrimonio cultural, acao educativa e
cultural e outras areas afins. Excecoes: praticas de atelier tais
como pintura, gravura, escultura, ceramica e demais praticas que
exijam infra-estrutura nao disponivel no Museu.
As oficinas serao realizadas no segundo semestre do ano corrente, no
periodo matutino (9 as 12h) e nas ferias de verao, no periodo
vespertino (14 as 18h), na sala multi-uso do Museu.

an Instructor in Video Production at its Davie campus, to teach
undergraduate courses in television and video production. The video
production component of the Department's BA in Multimedia Studies
emphasizes documentary and experimental modes; the curriculum is
designed to give students a solid grounding in field and studio
techniques, while developing personal voice and point of view.
Courses emphasize the relation between practice and theory,
underlining key aesthetic and critical concerns. The position is a
renewable nine-month, non-tenure track appointment beginning August
2004.
Salary: $35,000. The teaching load is the equivalent of four courses
per semester, and includes teaching introductory and advanced
production courses, as well as managing the Department's multimedia
labs on the Davie campus. MFA, MA, or equivalent professional
experience required. All candidates must have an active production

FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, Department of Communication, is seeking
an Instructor in New Media Production at its Davie campus, to teach
courses in the Department's BA in Multimedia Studies, which includes
sequences in Film & Video Studies and Multimedia Journalism. The
Department seeks a scholar of digital art and new media practice with
expertise in new media as art and communication. Ideal candidates
will cross media platforms and have experience in creating and
analyzing multimedia texts. Candidates must be able to offer
instruction in the integration of text, image and audio. Applicants
should possess practical skills in more than one of the following
media platforms: digital photography, computer-based imaging
technologies, web and
graphic design, and multimedia authoring. Applicants must also be
proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Studio, and have some
experience in scripting. The position is a renewable nine-month,
non-tenure track appointment beginning August 2004. Salary: $35,000.
The teaching load is the equivalent of four courses per semester, and
includes teaching introductory and advanced interactive multimedia
courses, as well as managing the Department's Proteus website and
serving as a web design consultant for the College of Arts and

The School of Creative Communication offers undergraduate and
postgraduate programs in New Media, Television Production, Creative
Writing and Literary Studies, and staff are active in contributing to
broader areas of cultural studies which link several programs in the
Division of Communication and Education. At the undergraduate level
Bachelor of Communication degrees in Creative Writing and Media are
complemented by a flexible BA, while at postgraduate level there is a
vibrant research culture among students in PhD and Master of Arts in
Communication programs. A well-developed and growing honours program
is expected to continue to strengthen this culture, particularly in
creative research. Fully online Masters by Coursework degrees are
also offered in Creative Writing and New Media, and subjects in these
courses contribute to similar degrees elsewhere in the Division.
The School now wishes to make a new senior staff appointment to
realise opportunities for cross-fertilisation between its
disciplines, and to further enhance research and publication culture.
The successful applicant will have a PhD and a significant national
and international reputation as well as a substantial publication
record and a demonstrated capacity to attract research funding. A
multi-disciplinary outlook and approach is essential, and the
background of a successful applicant is likely to include formal
studies and creative work in media studies, creative writing
including new media and screen-based writing, film and cultural
studies, and critical theory. Other relevant disciplines would
include creative audio production and theory, media design, cognitive
science, and conceptual and information arts. This is a full-time
continuing position.
