Facilitate communication to
support Latin America and Washington DC staff programs in the 15
Latin American countries where Ashoka operates
Facilitate the process of
identifying and electing Ashoka Fellows, particularly editing
candidate profiles and helping with logistical coordination
Write grant reports and donor
proposals and take responsibility for some fundraising
Track and distribute Fellows'
stipend payments
Manage database and other information on Ashoka

Take on
and complete special projects

The appointee will join an innovative regional media programme in a University making rapid communication technology developments with the USPNet 2000 project; will teach primarily in the areas of radio and television journalism, journalism foundation theory and practice, and media law and ethics; will be expected to conduct appropriate research and consultancy, and may sometimes have to deputise for the Programme
Co-ordinator. Applicants must have strong practical media industry experience with a broad range of skills, specialist knowledge and teaching experience in radio
and/or television, and sound knowledge of new media technologies. Postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate media discipline are expected.
Preference will be given to applicants with tertiary-level teaching experience in journalism at a recognised journalism school. The following are also desirable: experience in print and online journalism; experience in distance education; familiarity with Pacific media cultures,
politics and history; and who can contribute to the development of the Programme's postgraduate courses.
For appointment at the Lecturer level, applicants are normally expected to have a higher degree and/or considerable research, teaching and media industry experience. Assistant Lecturer positions are normally open only to citizens of the twelve countries of the USP region.
