@ PROYECTO GEMINIS - CUBA
============================================
prazo/plazo/deadline: n/c
Juventud, ninez, educacion, salud.
Puntos clave

============================================
prazo/plazo/deadline: 15/10/2001, 31/05/2002, 15/10/2002
The Residence provides accommodation and support to 6 film directors with a feature project of fiction in two successive sessions every year (October
1st - mid-February / mid-February - June 30th).
A jury presided by a film director undertakes the selection process. Their decision is based on the quality of the short films - or the first feature -already made, the validity of the feature project and the reasons why the candidate is interested in the programme of the Residence. Following an initial selection on the basis of the applications received (forms are available from the head office of the Cinefondation), the short-listed
candidates are invited to Paris to be
interviewed by the jury.
The aim of the Festival Residence is to create a permanent structure in Paris that will house young filmmakers and support the development of their
personal project, whilst providing them with cultural opportunities to widen
their horizons.
Characteristics
The residents benefit from :
* Accommodation in the centre of Paris, including a private bedroom, communal living areas and a home video room. Each bedroom is equipped with a
personal computer with high speed Internet connection, a television and a video recorder;
* Living expenses of 5.000 francs per month (762 Euro);
* Free access to a large number of Parisian cinemas and reduced-price access to certain Parisian theatres;
* French lessons (optional); and
* All other advantages of the programme of the Cinefondation.
The Program
The program of the Residence runs for four-and-a-half months. The aim is to both help the young filmmakers develop their feature project, and to provide them with a group programme of seminars and professional encounters.
The Residence enables filmmakers to develop contacts with film professionals, thereby helping their film begin the process of production or co-production
* The Group Programme
In the aim of ensuring the widest possible collective support for the Filmmakers, the Residence organises a group programme made up of weekly encounters with directors, producers, distributors, technicians and critics
At regular intervals, encounters with film institutions are organised to complement the group programme (French national film centre, European film institutions, television companies), so that the residents gain a global
view of film production organisation in France and Europe.
* The Individual Programme
Each successful filmmaker arrives at the Residence with a feature project whose writing stage is more or less complete. According to the needs of the filmmakers, the Residence will arrange individual encounters with directors, technicians or any other person that may be able to bring new inspiration to the filmmaker's project.
Directors wishing to dedicate time to writing alone are able to spend a few days away at the Moulin d'Ande; a retreat situated one hour from Paris.
* Access to Films France is one of the countries in the world that has the greatest richness in terms of access to works of cinema. This is due to the great diversity of
film work present in the programmes of film theatres, festivals and cultural institutions. The Residence offers residents the possibility of free access to a great
number of film theatres, cultural institutions (the Cinematheque Francaise), and to participate at certain Festivals (Angers, Clermont-Ferrand, Nantes and, of course, Cannes).
* Sharing with Others
The first few sessions have shown that communal life at the Residence enables the filmmakers to pool their experience. Whether it be via the bias of the encounters organised in the group programme or in more informal
circumstances, the Residence creates a setting that enables a rich exchange of ideas.
Experience has also shown that the setting promotes the sharing of experience with others outside of the Residence - young spectators, other young filmmakers - thereby giving the directors the chance to relay their
own experience.

@ CALL FOR TAPES: ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE. THE INDEPENDENT MEDIA CENTER
============================================
prazo/plazo/deadline: n/c
The Independent Media Center is calling for international participation in its next video production. The program will document the peace convergences around the world and will document international responses to the events of 9/11 and what this means for the larger globalization movement.
We request raw footage and pre-produced segments that document the ways in which your communities are mobilizing for peace and how individuals are coming to terms with recent events in regard to the broader movement for economic and social justice. We need footage of rallies and mobilization as well as interviews with participants. We also encourage producers to submit their own edited segments for inclusion in the program.
SUGGESTIONS FOR SUBMISSIONS:
RAW FOOTAGE: Please send video selects of key interviews, B-roll and documentation of events. Do not send hours of footage (!).
SEGMENT PRODUCTION;
Please post your thoughts on segment content and length prior to production. Use the <imc-video@... and cc me at michael@...>. If we discuss the segments in process we can help avoid unnecessary or duplication of efforts.
PROGRAM PRODUCTION
We encourage other video producer groups and collectives to make 28 minute programs for distribution with the IMC series. These programs should be thematic in nature and examine specific issues related to the emerging war and it's impact on communities locally and worldwide.
ON-LINE DATABASE
To assist in segment and program production, we have started an on-line activist video database for videographers to post descriptions of their footage/segments so program producers can search and locate material they may need. The database is available at: http://www.mediajumpstart.net/intake-db/
DISTRIBUTION
Finished programs will be satellitecast and cablecast throughout the U.S. and made available throughout the IMC network for use internationally in teach-ins and organizing.
