@ EDITOR. WATCHING AMERICA. NEW YORK, VIRTUAL
==========================================
prazo/plazo/deadline: 2 NOV 2008
VOLUNTARIO

Location: New York, New York, Virtual
Organization: Watching America
Sex: All are welcome
Language(s): English
End date: November 2, 2008
Age: Seniors (65 and over), Adults (18-64)
Area of Focus: International Cooperation, International Relations,
Media and Journalism

Description:
Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is looking for intern editors
to work closely with the senior editor Adair Fincher, and Robin
Koerner, owner and publisher of WA.

WA's mission is to translate foreign news about the United States to
enable Americans to see how they and their policies are perceived
globally. Over its three years of existence, it has gained mainstream
recognition in the U.S. and abroad. It depends on a team of
volunteers who benefit from the prestige of the project in developing
their careers elsewhere and who have enthusiasm for its mission.

The editor's role, initially, is to work a little bit each day to
select and post English language content and find, edit and post
translated articles to the site. There is the potential for an editor
to work directly with the translators, if the editor shows interest
in doing so. All this can be done from any location where there is an
Internet connection. Experience is a plus, not a requirement, but we
do look for passion. The position entails a commitment of six months
to a year, with longer commitments given priority.

While no one who works for WA is paid, WA offers letters of
recommendation from Robin Koerner that more than account for WA's
uniqueness as a resource in both international affairs and
journalism. WA is one of only ten online periodicals linked by the
library of congress, has been covered in dozens of U.S. And foreign
newspapers (Christian Science Monitor, Guardian, Der Spiegel etc) and
various radio interviews (NPR, BBC, VOA etc).
How to Apply:
If you are interested in the position, please contact Robin Koerner
(robink@...) for more details.
