As part of its ongoing commitment to exploring new ways of bridging the digital divide, the Benton Foundation's Communications Policy Program would like to invite you to join the DIGITALDIVIDE listserv. DIGITALDIVIDE is a
moderated discussion in which citizens can discuss the wide range of issues related to bridging the digital divide. The listserv, which currently includes approximately 2700 members from around the world, cuts across disciplinary boundaries: community activists, educators, researchers,
librarians, representatives of commercial and nonprofit enterprises, volunteers, students and concerned citizens are all encouraged to take part in this online discussion.
The listserv tackles the digital divide from a variety of angles, that include (but are not limited to) the following subjects:

Invitacion a suscribirse a la Lista de Interes Iberoamericana de Arte, Nuevos Medios, Ciencia y Tecnologia. (iberoamerica-act)
A casi un ano de su creacion, esta lista de interes iberoamericana en artes electronicas responde a la necesidad real de desarrollar un espacio de
dialogo entre artistas, teoricos y publico en general relacionados al arte, la ciencia y la tecnologia en Iberoamerica. No solo compartimos lenguas
similares, sino que en muchos casos participamos de realidades parecidas y podemos generar estrategias de trabajo en conjunto.
Esta es una invitacion a formar parte de esta lista y de este encuentro Iberoamericano en el arte, la ciencia y la tecnologia.
Objetivos:
Son objetivos de la lista, mas no excluyentes:
* La organizacion de trabajos en conjunto entre los paises de Iberoamerica.
* La preparacion de encuentros y simposios en diversos paises de iberoamerica.
* Una mayor relacion entre los diferentes eventos (Festivales, Bienales, etc.) Iberoamericanos en la busqueda de mayor difusion internacional.
* La creacion de un directorio de artistas y teoricos, curado por los diferentes especialistas de cada pais.
Creamos este foro de dialogo e informacion, en la necesidad de ampliar las voces que participen de esta discusion multi-direccional, proponiendo
proyectos y demas iniciativas en las que podamos trabajar en conjunto.
Como Ingresar a la Lista de Interes:
La lista esta abierta a todos los interesados en las relaciones entre arte, nuevos medios, ciencia y tecnologia de Latinoamerica, Espana y Portugal.
La subscripcion a la lista no implica la obligatoriedad de participar en la organizacion de los eventos mencionados, si bien alentamos la participacion
de todos aquellos que quieran hacerlo. Quienes no quieran involucrarse en cuestiones de organizacion, pueden subscribirse para mantenerse informados
sobre las actividades en gestacion.

FEPAL es FEderacion Psicoanalitica America Latina. Nuclea a mas de 3.000 miembros activos y participativos de toda America Latina. En Setiembre de 2002 se realiza el XXIV Congreso en Uruguay, con un cambio del modelo tradicional de los Congresos de FEPAL y los Congresos en general. No habra actividades plenarias expositivas ni lectura de trabajos. Se manejaran con prepublicaciones disponibles y grupos trabajaran en torno a temas, sub-temas, problemas y preguntas asignadas. El Congresista armara el itinerario que recorrera durante el Congreso por opcion tematica y de eleccion de casos clinicos. Un modelo sin ponencias oficiales como este exige una intensa actividad preparatoria abierta a la participacion de todos los miembros. El sitio web fue desarrollado con el proposito de esta preparacion. En el sitio los miembros comienzan su actividad a partir de un registro para ingresar a foros electronicos, intercambios entre participantes, informacion actualizada y de interes.
El sitio me parece la red muy bien aprovechada. Se hace uso de Internet como una herramienta de trabajo rentable. Es un paso adelante en el ambito de la educacion y el intercambio en el espacio latinoamericano. Es un sitio para latinoamericanos desarrollado por latinoamericanos.

OneWorld, the online sustainable development and human rights network, is preparing to launch Digital Opportunity Channel, in collaboration with the Benton Foundation <www.benton.org>,
the Washington-based non-profit that works to realize the social benefits made possible by the public interest use of communications technology.
Digital Opportunity Channel <www.digitalopportunity.org> will focus on the use of ICTs (information and communications technologies) for global sustainable development, with a special emphasis on developing
countries. The site will be launched publicly the week of 17 May 2002 to coincide with UN World Telecommunications Day, which this year is
celebrated under the theme, "ICT for all: empowering people to cross the digital divide".
Digital Opportunity Channel will build on Benton Foundation's Digital Divide Network (DDN) <www.digitaldividenetwork.org> and OneWorld's seven
years experience in ICT for development. The site will present content from OneWorld's partnership of over 1000 NGOs around the world and DDN's
network of practitioners and policymakers. Other civil society actors, international organisations, governments and businesses engaged in harnessing the full potential of ICT for sustainable development will also be involved in the initiative.
Digital Opportunity Channel will be coordinated from India, which has one of the largest populations of the poorest and marginalized in the world - and at the same time shows the biggest potential in ICT for development. The portal will also act as an online community and
innovation lab for people working in the field of ICT for development both in the developing and developed world.
Organisations working on ICT and digital divide issues are invited to participate in Digital Opportunity Channel. Further information is available at <www.digitalopportunity.org>.
