Wanted: One individual to work in a non-profit media arts
organisation; coordinating, facilitating and maintaining all aspects of EMMEDIA's production and technical operations (digital video, audio and other electronic media).
The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of EMMEDIA's production and post-production equipment and must have a professional level of understanding of digital video, audio and data formats. In addition, a high level of skill in wiring and assembling
broadcast-level video systems is important. The successful candidate will also have experience working within a non-profit arts environment and a comprehensive knowledge of the media arts in Canada. You will have a proven record of accomplishment in grant writing and a demonstrated understanding of arts funding in Alberta
and Canada. You will require exceptional communications skill (written and oral), project management experience, an understanding of the importance of responding to the needs of a community and be willing to develop new links and partnerships. You will also coordinate production programs, conduct orientations for producers and prepare all aspects of basic, intermediate and advanced workshops. Strong organizational abilities are required and critical writing abilities would be an asset. The Production Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Programmer, Board of Directors and the membership to develop access strategies. You will have good humour, a sense of fun and the desire to be part of a team that leads
a nationally recognized electronic media arts centre.
EMMEDIA is a Macintosh environment. Our facility contains extensive video production and post-production equipment. Production boasts a Canon XLI Camera, a Sony PD 100 Camera, and a professional quality
Sony DSR300 Camera with Wide Angle lens and Miller 25 tripod, Pepper, Rifa and Strand light kits and an extensive selection of grip gear and location audio equipment support the cameras. The Sony CS10
projector is a fully portable 1000 lumen projector used for
out-of-house screenings, performances and installations. We have two Media 100 Digital Video Editing Suites. Also, two Multimedia Labs that are equipped with a PowerMac G4 -733 DVD-R/CD-RW and a PowerMac G4-533 CD-RW Dual Processor with 1.536 GB RAM, FinalCut Pro, Macromedia Flash, Media Cleaner, Dreamweaver Fireworks Studio, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat, After Effects with Production Bundles and a high-speed cable internet connection. Project Director, Afghanistan Media Project
IMPACS the Institute of Media, Policy and Civil Society seeks an experienced journalist and project director to lead the implementation of its women s media
capacity-building project based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The incumbent will be responsible for project development and management, delivering training
programs, financial management and reporting.
Specific duties will include developing project work plans, liaising with key stakeholders, overseeing all aspects of training, managing a small team of national staff and coordinating all aspects of project implementation. The
Project Manager will be reporting to and be supported by IMPACS staff in Vancouver. Contract is for one year and extending based on availability of funding.
Qualification Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years senior project management experience, preferably working within an international context. S/ he will have
an excellent knowledge of electronic media have fundraising experience. The candidate will posses a university degree in communications, political studies

The purpose of this position is to create,develop and organize services geared at developing and strengthening the infrastructure of this project from ground up.This position will coordinate multiple projects aimed at assisting agencies in accessing a larger pool of volunteers, relevant gifts in kind, necessary training for its staff and volunteers.

For the successful outcome of the project the applicant will have ability to form global and local partnerships through creation and development of strategic alliances and joint ventures. The candidate will also develop global network of volunteers along with the required system and infrastructure to implement these project in cost effective manner so as to make it affordable to the communities in which we serve. Prefer some previous experience in recruiting, screening, matching and managing, volunteers and volunteer pool. PM will achieve this volunteerism objectives for the project by attracting various segment of society such as retired business executives, bureaucrats, civil servants, army personnel's, students, teachers faculty members, parents and corporate sponsored employees. The PM will accomplish these projects through international partnership and contacts in profit and not for profit sector. PM will also have ability to nurture and broker relationships with key outside government and funding agency personnel connected with the operation and effective function of the division. PM will have very strong training, organizational and system experience of building a high powered motivated efficient team that is target and time sensitive. PM would have powerful presentation, writing and communication skills and demonstrated comfort in speaking before large groups. PM will have ability to coordinate relevant workshops for participating private and government agencies and update existing workshops when necessary. PM will be competent and professional with responsibility from the bottom up to the highest level to interface with various outside agency representatives and other key stakeholders The PM will be a general all rounder with special events planning, public speaking, fundraising, financial planning, sales, marketing, promotion and advertising and public relations.
